Brachiosaurus

Brachiosaurus
Mary Evans Picture Library/Deagostini Editore

Brachiosaurus ('arm lizard') was one of the biggest land animals that has ever lived, weighing around 70 tons. Its front legs were longer than its hind legs, so it stood more upright than most sauropods. It could raise its head almost forty feet off the ground to graze high in the trees and lived in the late Jurassic Period (about 150 million years ago). Remains have been found in Colorado, USA, North America and Africa.
