HOW DO I MEASURE MY WINDOW FOR A BLIND?

Our Help section contains information on 'Measuring your Window'. You will find full and clear instructions to help you to take accurate measurements of your window for your blind.

If you wish to discuss this matter with us, please call us on 0115 958 4647.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A RECESS AND AN EXACT FITTING?

A RECESS measurement is when you would like the blind to fit and hang INSIDE the window recess, i.e. close to the window.

An EXACT measurement is when you would like your blind to fit to the wall and hang OUTSIDE the window recess giving an exact coverage.

Please visit our Help section for further information and diagrams on all aspects of 'Measuring your Window'.

ARE ALL THE BLINDS CHILD SAFE?

Yes. All of our Roller, Roman and Vertical blinds are manufactured with Safety Devices and Full Instructions on how to fit are supplied with the blinds.

WILL THE BLIND BE DELIVERED WITH ALL FITTINGS AND FITTING INSTRUCTIONS I NEED?

Yes. Our blinds are straightforward and easy to fit. Your blind will be made to measure to your exact specification, and supplied ready to fit, so there is no extra cutting or adjustment to be made. All necessary fittings will be delivered with your blind and full instructions on ‘How to Fit’ will be emailed to you. However, we do not supply the screws required for affixing your blind to the wall as this is subject to your specific surface area.

Special Note for Roller Blinds: Please ensure that the fittings are positioned so that the blind fits comfortably within them, rather than too snugly. If the roller sits too tightly within the fittings, they may act as a 'brake', causing the blind to run less smoothly, and the easy-break chain to break, which can be easily clipped back together.

WHAT MATERIALS ARE USED TO MAKE YOUR BLIND, AND HOW EASY IS IT TO CLEAN?

ROLLER, VERTICAL, AND PANEL BLINDS

Our “Regular” blind material is high-quality flame-retardant, woven 100% Polyester, which can be sponged clean. It will allow some light to filter through. Our “Blackout” blind material is high-quality, 3 ply water-resistant PVC, flame-retardant, highly-opaque and also spongeable. It is manufactured with a black layer 'sandwiched' between white outer layers to produce a total blackout material. It is semi-coated with PVC on both sides, which gives it its durable, water-resistant properties, and allows superb printing quality.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When sponging a blind, please ensure that only gentle and even pressure is used. DO NOT USE DETERGENTS.

The material is attached to a high-quality aluminium tube. The mechanisms are made from high quality UV stable plastic. The fixing brackets are powder coated steel. The chrome control chain is fitted with an ‘Easy Break’ connector system, so that, if any excessive force is exerted on this control chain, it will break. If this happens, it is possible to reinsert the control chain into the connector. Also as an extra safety feature, all roller blinds are supplied with a wall fixing chain tidy device.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE: In the interests of safety, it is advisable to keep all chain cords out of the reach of babies, children and other vulnerable persons, and to secure the cord safely, e.g., with a chain tidy device.

VENETIAN BLINDS

Our venetian-blind slatting is high-quality aluminium, which can be dusted clean.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When dusting the blind, please ensure that only gentle and even pressure is used, without any use of polish or detergent.

The slatting is attached to a high-quality rolled steel headrail. The mechanisms are made from high quality UV stable plastic. The fixing bracket are pressed steel. The lift cords are fitted with an ‘Easy Breakaway Toggle’ connector system, so that, if any excessive force is exerted on these cords, it will break apart. If this happens, it is possible to reinsert the cord into the toggle and click back together. Also as an extra safety feature, all venetian blinds are supplied with a wall fixing cord cleat device.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE: In the interests of safety, it is advisable to keep all chain cords out of the reach of babies, children and other vulnerable persons, and to secure the cord safely, e.g., with a cord cleat device.

PLEATED BLINDS

Our pleated-blind fabric is high-quality woven 100% Polyester, which can be dusted clean.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When dusting the blind, please ensure that only gentle and even pressure is used, without any use of polish or detergent. DO NOT USE A VACUUM CLEANER, THIS WILL DAMAGE THE FABRIC PLEATS.

The fabric is attached to a high-quality aluminium headrail. The mechanisms are made from high quality UV stable plastic. The fixing brackets are powder coated pressed steel. All pleated blinds are supplied with a wall fixing cord cleat device.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE: In the interests of safety, it is advisable to keep all chain cords out of the reach of babies, children and other vulnerable persons, and to secure the cord safely, e.g., with a cord cleat device.

ROMAN BLINDS

Our “Printed Fabric front cover” blind material is high-quality flame-retardant, woven 100% Polyester, which can be sponged clean. DO NOT USE DETERGENTS.

Our “Regular Lining” blind material is high-quality flame-retardant, woven 100% Polyester, which can be sponged clean. It will allow some light to filter through.

Our “Blackout Lining” blind material is high-quality, 3 ply, flame-retardant, highly-opaque and also spongeable. It is manufactured with a black layer 'sandwiched' between outer layers to produce a total blackout material. The covers are manufactured with “Edge to Edge” lining to reduce the amount of light transfer around the sides of the blind.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When sponging a blind, please ensure that only gentle and even pressure is used, without detergents.

The material is attached to a high-quality aluminium tube. The mechanisms are made from high quality UV stable plastic. The fixing brackets are powder coated steel. The chrome control chains are fitted with an ‘Easy Break’ connector system, so that, if any excessive force is exerted on this control chain, it will break. If this happens, it is possible to reinsert the chain cord into the connector.

HOW LONG IS A PANEL BLIND DESIGNED TO LAST?

Your blind will be guaranteed for 3 years subject to normal wear and tear. All our Panel Blinds are made with high-quality UV stable plastic components within a grooved aluminium white powder coated track. The fixing brackets are pressed steel. The blind operates with a wand, to draw it from side to side. This means there is no risk of injury with a looped cord.

HOW CAN I BE SURE HOW MY PHOTO OR CHOSEN IMAGE WILL LOOK ON MY BLIND?

Before we commence manufacture, we will send you, by email, a PDF e-proof of your chosen photo or image as it will appear on your blind. This will show the image you have selected scaled to the exact proportions of your window. However, when selecting your image, it is helpful to bear in mind that some images will be more suited to portrait-shaped windows, and some to landscape-shaped windows. In this case, our Design Team will offer alternatives, which include cropping, different-coloured backgrounds, borders, etc. Only when you are entirely satisfied with the proof that we have sent you, and you have sent us your written approval by email, will we proceed to manufacture your blind.

HOW ACCURATE IS THE COLOUR REPRODUCTION OF IMAGES FROM OUR GALLERY?

We do our very best to ensure accurate colour reproduction of the finished product. However, it is not always possible to achieve an exact colour reproduction of the colours and shades of the images that you see on your computer monitor or printed proof, because scanners, computer monitors, laser printers and printer proofs define and display colours slightly differently.

CAN YOU CROP OR EDIT MY CHOSEN IMAGE TO FIT MY WINDOW?

Yes, in many cases this is possible. Whether you are supplying your own photograph or choosing an image from our Gallery, it is often possible for us to crop the image, or surround it with a white border, so that it suits your window shape. If you have any particular requests or concerns about the layout of the image on the blind, please email us at enquiries@creativelydifferentltd.co.uk, or telephone us on 0115 958 4647, and we can discuss this with you. In all cases, we will, of course, send you an e-proof by email, so that you can be sure that you are happy with how your blind will look. Only once we have received your approval of the e-proof, will we proceed to manufacture.

WHAT SIZE AND QUALITY OF PHOTO IS ACCEPTABLE FOR A PHOTO BLIND?

Your blind will be considerably larger than the average-sized photograph, so using a digital camera of at least 6 megapixels will help you to take a photograph with a high enough resolution to ensure a great result. Please set your camera to the highest resolution possible (preferably a minimum of 300 dpi), and save your image in either JPEG or TIFF format. Ideally, we would like the photo to be around 10-15 megabytes in size, but we can sometimes work with less. If the photograph you send us is not sufficiently high enough resolution to produce a top quality printed blind, we will advise you by email.

Copyright Notice: It is important to note that it is your responsibility to ensure that you own the copyright of the image, or have the permission of the copyright holder to use the photograph in this way. Please also note that we reserve the right to refuse to print a photographic image provided by a customer for reproduction onto a blind if, in our opinion, the image is inappropriate or offensive, or if, in our opinion, reproduction of an image risks copyright infringement of a third party.

HOW SHOULD I SEND MY PHOTO TO YOU?

Simply use our online browse option and ‘file upload’ facility to send your digital photograph to us.

CAN YOU RETOUCH MY PHOTO TO IMPROVE ITS QUALITY BEFORE PRINTING?

We are happy to undertake a small amount of retouching work (e.g., removal of ‘red eye’) at no extra cost.

Should we consider that your photograph requires further work in order to achieve the best result possible, we will, of course, email or telephone you to discuss this, and to advise you if there is any extra cost for this work.
